Afternoon tea is one of my favourite things to do, there’s
something that feels so fancy about it, it’s like a much better version of
lunch! Not to mention how the delicious food is miniature, it’s just too
tempting not to resist!
Me and the family spent the afternoon at the ‘DoubleTree by
Hilton’, just a few minutes outside Southampton. When we arrived, we were shown
to the restaurant that held afternoon tea, the room itself was very nice, with
a grand piano underneath a glass-window dome in the ceiling (which was
stunning).
Once seated, the two sets of afternoon tea came out, with a
lovely selection of sweet/savoury with our teas and coffees. There was a
selection of sandwiches (not my favourite part), and the sweets included a
walnut and treacle mini cake with butter icing, passionfruit mousse, a
chocolate mousse/chocolate biscuit base and not forgetting the classic fruit
scones, with cream and jam. DELICIOUS!
I started with the sandwiches so I could leave the best till
last! My favourite was the walnut and treacle cake, and if I’m honest with you,
I had two… BUT they were utter heaven and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth!
All the food was lush, from the mousse treats being so
fluffy and light, to the scones being warm, which is my absolute favourite. The
overall experience was lovely, the staff were so nice as well, I would
definitely recommend going for a cheeky afternoon tea, especially if you wanna
feel a little fancy and VERY full! 😊
